AICE Media Studies AS- Neighbors, A

    After encountering many bumps in the road, we can present the first draft of our film The High School Jock. A fun and comedic take on high school drama is a perfect watch for people of all ages.     

Today was the day scheduled for filming and luckily, Skylar got released from quarantine and was sent back to school today which gave us the chance to film together. We got to school, went to the auditorium, gathered our actors and actresses, and headed out to the front entrance to film the opening scene. We made our way through campus, filming in the areas we needed and finished filming in about 2 hours. Once we left campus and had all of the film together, we sent it to our other group member Elena to edit. We held group face time calls to give assistance and make sure everyone would be happy with the final product. While editing, we found that it was slightly difficult to hear the actors speaking through their masks as we did not use professional filming equipment. Thankfully this was our only major issue. The beginning of this week has been off to a rough start. My group and I are already falling behind schedule with our filming due to school policies with COVID-19. As we found out last week, one of our main actresses and group members have been placed in quarantine due to having and being exposed to the corona virus. Thinking this was an issue enough, I found I was wrong. Coming back to school this week started with another main actor getting placed in quarantine, as well as the other group member. This leaves me in class without my group, having to film and replace actors on my own. This not only causes issues in the filming schedule, but as well as being able to interact with each other face to face. Not being able to be in class together prevents us from being able to include everyone's ideas throughout the whole movie. Although there is a solution to this, it will just make the idea of working as a group very minimal. While I am at school, I will find peers to participate ...

During the beginning of this week, my group members and I began finalizing our script and making sure that our locations and mise en scene would work out as planned. We have gotten all approval for filming in the locations we had originally planned- the front lot, the hallways, and the classroom. We have planned when to film in these areas to be sure our actors and actresses can film together at the same time, as well as adapting to the schedule of the school to make sure we don’t disrupt anything. Although we have everything planned and ready to go, we are coming across a few issues with the group and one of the actresses as well. One of our actresses has contracted COVID-19 and one (possibly two) group members are having to quarantine, leaving us with less producers and directors as well as an actor. The rest of the week we will have to find ways to adapt to these unexpected events.
