Post Production 1- Discussing New Ideas

After finalizing the idea of redoing our film, Skylar and I have to begin selecting the changes we need to make. To start, we need to go through our script and change some dialogue to make our plot stronger. Adding a conversation about Troy first thing when the girls get to school adds to the fact that they are excited to see him, hinting at the fact that they all like him. Also, we have changed some filming settings in order to make the school aspect of the film more realistic. We decided the opening of the film should be the school parking lot, to show that they are arriving and walking into school. There are also scenes of the girls walking through the hallways and into a classroom to show they are making their way into first period. We found an actual teacher who was able to participate in the film and let us film in her room. We were very happy to have found a classroom and teacher to add to the film because that is one of the main mise en scene elements we felt it was missing. The girls remove their backpacks, take their seat, and begin taking out their notebooks which also adds to the mise en scene of the film. To end the film, Troy walks through the classroom door as the bells rings and grabs the girls attention. The character Alex says to him, "Hey Troy," showing that he is the character that they have been looking for on their way to class.

Another change we had to make in the second take of our film was the actors. We felt as though the actors in the first draft did not execute the emotions we would like and made the film look very unrealistic. We decided to use our friends Ella and Lanie to play the roles of Sabrina and Alex. We tried asking other friends to participate in the role of Alex, but we could not find anyone that fit the role and was willing to perform. Because we ran into this issue, Skylar offered to play the role of Alex. This worked out positively for us because it made putting the filming schedule together easier and the group of friends could be played more realistically.
